Up in the air Hostess set with a sweet Vellum embossing technique by Stampin Up and me

Here I used the dry embossing technique on some Stampin Up Vellum paper.

(#101839 - $5.95 for 20 sheets of 8-1/2 x 11'' of Translucent Vellum paper which can add such a delicate touch or overlay to your elegant designs)

You might think that I coloured the flowers white on this Vellum paper. But that's not what happened. I stamped the image, let it dry a bit and I turned my piece of paper upside down and placed it on a soft underground.

Then with my Simply Scored Styles from my Simply Scoring tool, which has 2 high quality metal tips on both ends, I started rubbing softly on top of the flowers to break down the fibers in the Vellum Paper. When they are 'broken', they will start to look white. And that's just what I wanted for my image. The flowers even feel a bit bubble, which is super duper cute!

(#123128 - $9.95 Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder)

Here you see 2 of my favorite Stampin Up punches. On the left you see Punch number 40 in the Stampin Up catalogue (page 212) #120906 - $22.95 for the 2 1/2 Circle Punch. (please click on the link to see how you can order this fun and handy punch)

The one on the right is the Scallop Trim Border Punch (#118402-$20.95) which I also used on this card.

Hi dear Stampers. How is your Thursday going?

For the first time in about a week I started our van this morning. It has been so cold outside that I just did not want to give that one a try yet. With temperatures reaching -40 Celsius I did not want to get stuck somewhere on the road with our 3 kiddo's only to get some milk or bread or .. I am glad you didn't hear our van complaining when I started it.. We have no garage to store our little baby (van) in and I think he wanted to remind me of that this morning.. Oh boy.. I seriously thought that all the pieces on the inside started to move around.. After he car warmed up for about 20 minutes it started to sound a little more normal en we drove away. ... We should install a little heating system in our motor.. many people have that here in Canada. Then you plug your car in and it keeps the motor warm. I know, so much better!

So on another note. Yesterday I hopped over to the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge site and saw that the sweet Linda Callahan created a beautiful sketch #18 for us to play with. There is already such a creative heap of entries admitted to this weeks Challenge, so please check it out, you will love the idea's that are over there.

Well.. here's my card. It's for a dear friend of me. I haven't seen her yet since she came back from Maui with her family, but I hope we can connect soon again. She lived there for many years and is trying to settle back into Canada again. My dear mother in law will meet with her mom tomorrow so she will take this card along with some other goodies. I hope she'll like it. I want her to know that our friendship still has a huge place in my heart and that she is always welcome in our home. Well, I gotta go. Stay warm wherever you are! Inky hugs, Pauline

En wat een kou bij jullie! Onvoorstelbaar!

I love that stamp set! Is het nog steeds zo koud bij jullie? We zitten op het moment middenin een sneeuwstorm. Er is hier vandaag al veel sneeuw gevallen en het sneeuwt nog steeds. Stay warm! Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Thanks for the tip about "coloring" the flowers on the vellum. It really gives them a soft look that is perfect for the colors you chose for your card. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

    Groetjes, Annemiek
